Integrative care for general wellness and sperm health

Integrative care for men’s health - fertility and beyond

Men come in for support with stress, sleep, digestion, energy, pain, and general wellness. When fertility is the goal, whole-body wellness becomes essential. Sperm health influences not just fertilization, but also the health of your future baby.

Research in epigenetics continues to show that environmental and lifestyle factors—such as chemical exposures, stress, diet, sleep, and exercise—affect sperm DNA integrity, which in turn impacts implantation and miscarriage risk. When we tend to these factors, we’re not only improving sperm health and pregnancy outcomes, but also laying the foundation for long-term vitality.

How these therapies work:

Tending to lifestyle and environmental factors improves not only the chances of natural conception but also success in assisted reproductive technology (ART) cycles like IUI or IVF. Even in cases where specific sperm are selected, as in ICSI, the health of the whole person still matters.

A Semen Analysis is Only The Beginning

Your care begins with a thorough intake where we review sleep, stress, diet, and lifestyle patterns—along with other symptoms that help reveal your overall Chinese medicine diagnosis. A semen analysis is one important benchmark if fertility is your goal, and we’ll review any current results together, but it’s only part of the full picture. Our goal is to understand the whole you, so that we can build a strong foundation for conception and long-term wellness.

Because sperm take roughly 72–90 days to mature, it’s ideal to begin care about three months before trying to conceive if a male factor is known or suspected. However, studies show that even 4-5 weeks of treatment can make a meaningful difference, especially in less complex cases.

Men's Health Treatments

Whether you have general health goals or you specifically want to address sperm health and your fertility, all men start with a New Patient Men’s Health Visit. In addition to a thorough Chinese Medicine evaluation, we can look at lab work – both general bloodwork and semen analyses – to bring an integrative lens to your care, and your first appointment includes acupuncture too.

If boosting sperm health is your primary goal, we recommend beginning acupuncture 8–12 weeks before planned conception when possible, but even a few weeks of treatment can still offer meaningful support.

I was hesitant to get acupuncture for (male factor) fertility, but after our second failed IVF cycle, I decided I needed to level up my contribution to this process. I was surprised by how thorough Anne was with my care- she helped me with my semen analysis but also my lifestyle and crazy stress levels. I was so burned out with work and trying to have a child. Anne helped me get into a much better headspace and I feel so much better now, just in time to care for my little girl who is on her way. -K.B.
